I have taught children in a church-setting for around thirty years.  I am the Director for Newington Courthouse Preschool and the four-year-old teacher.  I also assist in the three-year-old class.  Being an elementary substitute teacher for six years taught me many things about teaching different levels of students.  That was further enhanced when I was the Site Director of Foundations Learning Center’s After School Program for twelve years.  My main volunteer position at church right now is leading the elementary TeamKID program, a discipleship program for first through sixth graders.

I have been a member of various churches for about twenty-five years.  I am married and have two grown children.  One lives in the Outer Banks, the other lives in Gloucester.  The newest addition to my family is my grandson.  Billy, my husband, works on Army helicopters in many capacities at Ft. Eustis as a civilian employee.

Mrs. Auker also teaches our 4 year-olds and serves as the 3 year-old teacher's assistant.

Hello, My name is Mrs. Brandi Cherkauer. I served in the U.S. Coast Guard. I taught as a teacher's aide  in Kindergarten, 1st & 2nd grades in Kodiak, Alaska. I have started and worked in many children church programs. I love teaching children and watching them as they learn and grow.

I was born and raised in Savannah, GA.  I have been married to my wonderful husband, Richard Cherkauer since 2002. We have two amazing children, Peyton & Charlotte. They keep us busy with football & ice hockey, but I would not trade it for anything. We are a Coast Guard family and have lived all around our beautiful country. We moved to Gloucester, Virginia the summer of 2018.

I am thrilled to be the 3 year old teacher and assistant teacher to the 4 year old class. This school year will be filled with lots of learning, God's word, fun and new adventure!!
